Boracay Cave

Boracay Cave Well apart from the beautiful scenery and breath-taking beach of Boracay, It still has something different to offer to people who visit the island. There’s a BAT CAVE in Boracay which shelters the giant fruit bats. You can be accompanied by the locals in this area for a certain fee or tip. The cave is on the north-western end of the island, the guide will then take you on a short hike through the forest to the mouth of the cave which drops down at a very steep angle. The mouth of the cave has large boulders and is extremely difficult to enter and walk through. The air inside the cave is very warm and humid, so it’s very difficult to breathe. You have to be cautious if you’re going to visit this place because there is no visible path, no handrail and the stone are extremely slippery with slime.

No one knows for sure how long the bats have been in the cave. But scientists have learned a lot about them. These are classified as Old World flying foxes. As the name suggests, their diet consists mainly of fruits. They are also capable of drinking flower nectar.

If you have a taste for adventure, try exploring the Boracay bat cave. Untouched by civilization, it is a fascinating excursion and offers you a glimpse of the natural wonders on the island.

Boracay Island

Boracay is an island of the Philippines located approximately 315 km 196 mi south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. Boracay Island and its beaches have received awards numerous times. Boracay was awarded in the "Travelers' Choice 2011" by TripAdvisor as the second best beach out of 25 in the world. Boracay was originally home to the Ati tribe. Boracay is part of Aklan Province, which became an independent province on April 25, 1956. Decades ago, Boracay Island was an almost possessively guarded secret so that only a few knew of its existence. Tourism only began to develop in the 1970s, it is said, a foreign movie crew accidentally "discovered" this island paradise. In the 1980s, the island became popular with backpackers. Since then, Boracay has gradually become a cosmopolitan tourism destination and, in the 21st century, has become one of the major tourist destinations in the Philippines.

the Boracay Island is the white sand.and the one tourist spot in Panay Island.

Boracay was not a name to be heard until 1970, when some travelers accidentally stumbled upon this serene island. Some says that it was a movie team that showed the world this wonderful island of Philippines. Boracay does not have much history to discuss its emergence. Neither is it known for its culture or art nor for the grand old architectural monuments.

Boracay was nothing less than a fishing village until a few decades. Today it is tourist delight for those who love the Three Sun, Sand and Sea.

Pan-ay Church

The island lent its name to several United States Navy vessels named USS Panay, mostly famously the one sunk in 1937 by the Japanese in the Panay incident.

Panay is the setting of the famous legend of Maragtas, which chronicled the arrival of the Malay race to the Philippine islands.

Panay (/pəˈnaɪ/, Tagalog: [pɐˈnaj]) is an island in the Philippines located in the western part of the Visayas. Politically, it is divided into five provinces: Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Iloilo, all in the Western Visayas Region. It is located southeast of the island of Mindoro and northwest of Negros, separated by the Guimaras Strait. Between Negros and Panay Island lie the island-province of Guimaras. To the north is the Sibuyan Sea and the islands of Romblon; to the southwest is the Sulu Sea[1] and the Panay Gulf.

Pan-ay Bell

In 1566, Fray Martín de Rada is said to have preached the Gospel in Bamban (Pan-ay) and from there he proceeded to evangelize Dumangas to the south. The Augustinians continued to spread their net of evangelization to the south and west of Pan-ay until they had established footholds in the whole island.  By the late 1500s, they had been had been the sole evangelizers of Panay island until the Jesuits arrived at this time.
