There’s a BAT CAVE in Boracay which shelters the giant fruit bats. You can be accompanied by the locals in this area for a certain fee or tip. The cave is on the north-western end of the island, the guide will then take you on a short hike through the forest to the mouth of the cave which drops down at a very steep angle. The mouth of the cave has large boulders and is extremely difficult to enter and walk through. The air inside the cave is very warm and humid, so it’s very difficult to breathe. You have to be cautious if you’re going to visit this place because there is no visible path, no handrail and the stone are extremely slippery with slime.

No one knows for sure how long the bats have been in the cave. But scientists have learned a lot about them. These are classified as Old World flying foxes. As the name suggests, their diet consists mainly of fruits. They are also capable of drinking flower nectar.

Boracay was originally home to the Ati tribe. Boracay is part of Aklan Province, which became an independent province on April 25, 1956. Decades ago, Boracay Island was an almost possessively guarded secret so that only a few knew of its existence. Tourism only began to develop in the 1970s, it is said, a foreign movie crew accidentally "discovered" this island paradise.In the 1980s, the island became popular with backpackers. Since then, Boracay has gradually become a cosmopolitan tourism destination and, in the 21st century, has become one of the major tourist destinations in the Philippines.

Olotayan Island

Olotayan is an island in Roxas City which is a good place for swimming and snorkelling. Sailing, jet-skiing/flat boat riding, wind surfing, skim boarding, fishing and also seaweed harvesting are also popular activities when in the island.

Summer is the best time to visit the island since seasonal conditions affect the beach.

 This island is blessed with serene shores with white sand, this island is comparable to Boracay Island. But compared to Boracay, which is a well-known and country's popular tourist destination, Olotayan is not yet discovered by a lot of people. With relatively few visitors and tourists visiting the area, the place remains undisturbed and native. Despite it's short distance from the city, the place remained it's rustic view, giving the visitors a chance to be close to nature. With this, the tourists will find many ways to commune with Mother Nature and a chance to get back to the basic living.

 Olotayan is so nice, there water was clear and the place was nice the people of olotayan was so very nice and hospitality... It is an island that can be viewed whenever you are in Baybay, Roxas City.

The island is known to have white sand and scattered corals making it a potential to be the future Boracay Island of the province. The place is not yet developed but it already attacted a lot of divers and jet ski hobbyists. The combination of the black sand and white sand in its beaches making it unique and very eye catching.

If you're a nature lover and love a peaceful place to have your vacation, Olotayan Island is suit for you. The place is not yet populated and does not have any night life yet which is very suited to people who wants to sleep in a very peaceful and lovable night. A boat ride can be arranged at the Banica, Tulay wharf for a certain fee.

There is one island that has also the beauty of  Boracay Island, it has also white sand beach and the most better fact is, it is not as crowded and more peaceful than Boracay Island.  this barangay is blessed with serene shores with white sand mixing with corals washed ashore by strong waves, Olotayan Beach offers a tranquil and relaxing experience. If you have a hassle and stress living with the busy life in the city, it is the best place to unwind and relax.

The island lent its name to several United States Navy vessels named USS Panay, mostly famously the one sunk in 1937 by the Japanese in the Panay incident.

Panay is the setting of the famous legend of Maragtas, which chronicled the arrival of the Malay race to the Philippine islands.

Pan-ay Bell

In 1566, Fray Martín de Rada is said to have preached the Gospel in Bamban (Pan-ay) and from there he proceeded to evangelize Dumangas to the south. The Augustinians continued to spread their net of evangelization to the south and west of Pan-ay until they had established footholds in the whole island.  By the late 1500s, they had been had been the sole evangelizers of Panay island until the Jesuits arrived at this time.
